PAINTING-TIP - GETTING STARTED IN PAINTING

Everyone has a preference in painting, and also a favorite painting hint. Personally I like to work with acrylics and you may very well prefer to work with oils or watercolors.

Each technique and media has it’s own challenges and requirements, with many competencies that must be mastered to produce successful pieces and there are plenty of painting-tip to help you.

I said earlier that everyone can paint! And that is true, and no person should be intimidated by others. It is not an elitist hobby, and it is entirely about self expression. The object is not to work with your chosen media and express yourself with shape, color and form.

The most important painting-tip is to start, and put brush to canvas or paper. You can choose and experiment with portraits, landscapes, still life or feel that abstracts is more suited, however you will find a style that you like.

This site will provide basic information and practical advice and painting-tip on various methods and techniques to get started. Contributors and artists are always welcome with useful painting-tip information and advice to this site

GETTING STARTED IN OIL PAINTING

Oil paints have a thick and buttery consistency and are made from natural oils such as linseed oil, as well as poppy and walnut oil. This acts as the medium to bind the pigment or color.

Oil paints are very popular as they have several advantages. They dry relatively slowly, and this allows you to work with the paint for considerable periods of time once you have applied it to your canvas. You can work of a pallete or you can work straight from the tube. Once oils dry you can over-paint them so this allows more flexibility and change and may great masters did just that.

Once the paint has dried, it can be overpainted without disturbing the original paint. Straight from the tube, oil paint is thick and buttery. It can be diluted with thinners all the way down to a transparent wash.

These pages will tell you all about paints, how to select and look after paint brushes and more painting-tip. Contributors and artists are always welcome with useful painting-tip information and advice to this site

To quote Gordana and she really sums art up for me here....

Painting is a magical space of metaphysical secret and a state of transcendence above and beyond the limits of material experience in which ability of seeing the whole picture, that basic art bastion made of triad: spirit-eye-hand must not be destroyed.

Art is an alchemical activity, a result of inspiration, which is of a spiritual nature. So art is in its base spiritual activity - the communication between the human with deep secrets of his existence.
